Welcome to the King David PTA!

“KD PTA exists to encourage and advance education, enrichment and well-being of the children of the School”

We are currently working on a number of projects:

  • Living Willow Dome - we are delighted that we have been awarded £500 by Moseley in Bloom towards the construction of a willow dome in the ‘soil circle’ in the front playground. We will need volunteers to help dig out the existing soil and plant the willow in December 2018 / January 2019.
  • New playground mural - a beautiful new design has been created ready for the boundary wall to the left as you look at the school buildings - some preparatory work to the wall is needed first.
  • New picnic benches - we are researching new benches for children to use for outdoor lessons and packed lunches - we hope to purchase enough recycled plastic benches (low maintenance, durable and easy to clean) to seat a whole class.
  • New PTA shed - we need a new shed to provide safe, waterproof storage of PTA resources.

If you can help with any of the above with practical help, contacts or have other ideas for the PTA, please do get in touch!

Thanks & best wishes

Kate, Farheen, Isik, Saarah and friends!

PTA AGM minutes - 20th April 2018

We were welcomed by Alison Derrig and Steve Langford. Fabulous to see the PTA coming bringing parents together and growing again.

Appointments

Kate Panagamuwa and Farheen Arshad were appointed as PTA co-chairs.

Alison Derrig as PTA Treasurer.

Jennifer Brooks was appointed as PTA Secretary.

Accounts presented by Alison Derrig

The PTA accounts at the end of July 2017 held a healthy £3808.25 which is in part to the success of the 2017 summer fair.

Accounts were approved and will be submitted by Alison.

Donations:

Fantastic news that a large number of new dictionaries have been donated to the school. This has been secured by Miriam Zeb. Thank you to Miriam.

Some plants for the hanging baskets have been donated by Bournville Garden Centre - to be planted up after the PTA meeting!

Discussion on how to spend funds:

We discussed the outdoor space at school and what could be done to enhance that including planting, play equipment, a willow dome, adding colour with a mural or design for the wall along the north perimeter in the front playground, repairing the summer house.

We discussed the importance of a positive colourful space for children to play in with places to hide and for creative play.

We also discussed the need to improve the sound system in the hall which may need some maintenance or repair.

It was agreed that we are happy in principle with spending PTA funds on any of the above ideas and that developed plans should be brought to a future meeting so that spending can be considered for approved.

Summer fair

We are considering a sporting theme this year and will need ideas and helpers.
