Week 1 Highlights

This week the children have been completing their speaking and listening through sharing their WW2 Homework projects. It’s been a pleasure to see and hear how much the children have learned. A huge well done to everyone!

Our favourite moments…

v  In English this week, we have been planning our very own discussions. We have learned about how important it is to keep them balanced and remain objective. We are exploring the following question, 'Is it always best to try and solve friendship issues independently without adult intervention?'. Next week, we are going to draft and edit our discussions.

v  In History, we focused on Remembrance Day and the importance of reflecting on History. We applied our Guided Reading Skills to a comprehension which gave us more information about how Remembrance Sunday came about and why so man wear poppies. As well as this, we wrote our very own acrostic poems to express how WW2 made us feel.

v  In Maths, we have looked at rounding for estimation and using the inverse operation to check our answers.

1. Homework has been set and is due on Wednesday’s. Please make sure the children have completed their spelling sentences too. (spellings including doubt etc.)

2. Please ensure your child brings their planner on Monday as their weekly spelling test will be recorded in there.

3. On Thursday 14th November 2019, there will be an opportunity for parents/ carers to attend a workshop along with your child. The focus will be on writing. As well as completing a writing activity with your child, it will be an opportunity for you to ask questions and receive further information about the English curriculum we are teaching. It will take place in the morning straight after registration. Please return the letters if you have not done so already.

4. It is a non-school uniform day on Friday 15th November 2019.

Have a great weekend,
