Let's get literate.

Dear parent(s),

To help your child improve their literacy skills, I am requesting that you encourage your child to copy a bit of writing from a book (a fiction book, magazine, newspaper, letter – whatever suits you or them) for just 10 minutes a day.

There are many benefits to this: they will be reading; they will learn new vocabulary; they will improve their spelling; they will be able to practise their handwriting; they will aprreciate the purpose of punctuation; and essentially they will learn sentence structure.  This does not need to be submitted.

It is a simple task with hopefully great results.  You may even ask your child one thing they learned today from this exercise and you will be surprised as to what they have picked up.

Thank you kindly.

Little Chefs

IMG 2714   The little chefs in Y2 have been creating their own pizza with Mrs.Halter. They had lots of fun chopping up onions, mushrooms and courgettes. Well done Y2 for working so well together.

Holiday homework Year 2 Spring

Holiday homework!

Firstly, I would like to say a very big thank you to all the Year 2 parents for the beautiful flowers.  I am truly humbled and really appreciate this gesture.  Thank you also for the support with helping your child to learn/practise their lines and costumes.

Secondly, your child has made a clock.  Please note the clock has two halves:  past the hour and to the hour.  Please help your child learn the time over the holiday break.  The ones they must know are: o'clock, quarter-past, half-past, quarter-to and to 5 minutes.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Thank you and have an enjoyable break.
