For the last couple of weeks, the children have been studying the poem the Highwayman. It is a dramatic and wonderful tale of danger and romance. I am very proud of the mature and thoughtful way the children have approached this difficult poem.

It has also inspired some fantastic artwork in the children's sketchbooks. Some children have really captured the drama and atmosphere of the poem. They have even tackled drawing horses - not an easy task!

We were also very interested to hear about the discovery of a WWII bomb near the Aston Expressway, not least because today we were looking at air raids, bombing raids and shelters in Britain during WWII - I do try to go the extra mile with resources and ideas to inspire - but I can honestly say I'm not responsible for that coincidence!
