Year 1 Home Learning

Good afternoon,

It has been another exciting week in Year 1. The children have looked at toys from the past and compared them to modern toys. We have also made our own toy puppets.

Please continue to access the 'letterjoin' website. The website can be accessed from home. It shows how the letters are formed with interactive videos. There is also a section marked 'phonics' where children can revise their sounds.

The username is: kingdavid_1 and the password is: letterjoinAM

Spellings: Look out for the v sound, which is spelt ve at the end of the word.

Log into oxford owl then click on the following link for the book 'The toys' party' - Read (or listen to) the story then answer the questions at the back of the book. You may wish to try the two activities online.

Topic: (Optional task)

Here you have chance to play a game with your partner (or parent), while improving your speaking and listening skills. The objective is to describe different toys from the past to your partner for two minutes, using as much interesting vocabulary as possible.

We have been looking at addition families in maths this week. Have a go at the following activity. There is a challenge sheet underneath should you wish to complete this. Remember you do not need to print the sheets out, just write the answers in your homework book provided. We work on correct number formation at the start of each Maths lesson. Please encourage your child to write numbers neatly and correctly. I will add an additional sheet at the bottom of the blog should you find this helpful.
