Reception homework tasks

Hello Reception

This week we have been exploring the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You should be able to tell the story to your family at home using some of the words from the story (and don't forget the voices).

Tell your adult why you made Goldilocks a wanted poster.

In Maths we have been ordering and sorting objects by size and focusing on what words help you describe and compare objects by sizes.

For example; Daddy bear is bigger than Mummy Bear. Baby bear is the smallest. He is tiny.

Below I have attached a sheet with lots of Goldilocks and the Three Bears themed activities for you to pick from. Don't forget to send me a quick email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

In phonics this week we have learned

c (bounce c c c) formation rhyme: curl around the caterpillar

k (bounce k k k – exactly the same as c) formation rhyme: down the kangeroo's body tail and leg.

ck – when the two letters sit together they still say the same sound. This is our first example of special friends; where 2 letters come together to make 1 sound.

We do try to encourage the children to write the k as the looped letter for cursive writing later.

To strengthen their hands and gain more flexibility in their wrist please ask your child to make some wavy, loopy or zigzag lines. This could be on paper, in sand, in bubbly water, with pens, crayons, paints or chalks.

A favourite is always a bucket of water and paintbrush then paint on fences, sheds or walls outside (no cleaning up required!)

Your home reading book this week is: (don't forget you may need to be logged in already)

Also we have been saying the teddy bear teddy bear rhyme using a daddy voice, a mummy voice and baby voice. You could perform this for your family at home.

Have a wonderful weekend.
