Maths Learning at Home

Hello Children, Parents and Carers,

I have been in touch with a few families who have asked for a little more help with the teaching of Mathematics.

In school, we use a scheme provided by White Rose. They have very helpfully set up a brand new website, accessible to all, to help you with your learning. Best of all, it is absolutely free!

The White Rose Maths Team has prepared a series of five Maths lessons, every week, for each year group from Early Years to Year 8. Every lesson comes with a short video showing you clearly and simply how to help your child to complete the activity successfully.

Just follow these four easy steps…

  1. 1. Click on the set of lessons for your child's year group.
  2. 2. Watch the video (either on your own or with your child).
  3. 3. Find a calm space where your child can work for about 20-30 minutes.
  4. 4. Use the video guidance to support your child as they work through a lesson.

Children - you will recognise many features of the lessons including Flashback 4 and the different types of questions your teacher gives you.

Parents - answers are provided - phew!

A regular daily learning routine will help your child to learn more effectively at home. We therefore recommend that you aim to cover just one 20-30 minute White Rose Maths session each day.

And there's more… The White Rose Team will be online every weekday between 10.00 and 11.00am to share children's questions, examples and stories via any of their social media channels (Facebook, Twitter).

Don't worry if you have missed a week: the previous lessons are all available to download.

Have fun everyone!
