 Hi Y5,

I hope that you are having a good week so far. As promised, here are the answers to the Maths. Your 'Additional Work' this week will link to our topic which is 'Unlikely Heroes'. This weeks additional work includes: History, Computing, DT and a Maths Mystery Challenge. Can you figure out who the culprit is using your mathematical knowledge?

I will be calling you either today/ tomorrow. I look forward to speaking to you and your families and hearing how well you are working from home.

History: Expectations 45 mins

LO: To analyse a number of sources to answer the question 'Is Britain Winning the War?' 

Task 1: Read the information on the three slides. In your book answer the following questions using the information from the slides to right. Ensure you use part of the question in your answer: 

- What does the word Blitz mean? 

- When did the Blitz start? 

- How many people lost their lives in the first night of the Blitz? 

- Why were the Germans bombing? Write at least two sentences. 

- What was the purpose of the Morrison shelters? Write at least two sentences. 

Task 2: Complete the sheet below, make sure you read the instructions carefully. 

Task 3: Create the table in your homework book and sort the sources into the two groups 'Britain winning the war' and 'Things are going badly'.  

 Computing/History: Expectations 45 mins

LO: To learn about the importance of computer science within WW2. 

Task 1: You have completed a Reading comprehension on Alan Turing. Now, write at least 4 sentences to summarise who Alan Turing is and his impact of winning the war. 

Task 2: Now it's your turn. Crack the codes below.  

Task 3: Once you have finished, answer the following questions (sheet starting with Name of person) about how you feel Alan Turing contributed to the overall success of winning WW2.

Task 1: Read the instructions carefully on page 1 and 2. 

Task 2: On page 3, answer the questions. You must use part of the question in your answers. Make sure you write at least 2 sentences per question.

Hello Farishta,

The first and second pages are only an estimate, I do not expect you to count every single piece of clothing you own. That would take forever! I would like you to definitely complete the questions on the third page as this will make sure you reflect on clothes rationing and its impact on ourselves and the environment.
